A useful business domain is easy to recognise, say, spell and remember. Aim for a name that customers can connect with your business and enter without confusion.
- Prefer a short, clear name and avoid unnecessary numbers, hyphens or ambiguous spelling.
- Consider your audience when choosing an extension, such as .com.au, .au or .com.
- Check the name’s availability, applicable registration requirements and any relevant brand or business-name considerations before committing.
- Check how the words read when joined together and how the address sounds when spoken.
Allowed characters, length and eligibility depend on the domain extension and its rules. There is no general 26-character maximum for all domain names.
If you register more than one version for your business, plan which is the primary website address and how the others should redirect. Multiple registrations do not need separate copies of the website.
Send Damien the names you are considering and we can confirm availability, the proposed registration term and current costs before proceeding.
