A domain name is the readable address used to identify a website or other internet services, such as example.com.au.
DNS records connect the domain to the services you use. Website hosting, email hosting and domain registration can be supplied by different providers.
In example.com.au, .au is the Australian top-level domain, .com.au is the namespace, and example.com.au is the registered domain. A name such as www.example.com.au is a subdomain and can be configured for the website.
Registering a domain does not automatically create a website or an email mailbox. Tell us what you want to use it for so we can confirm the services and DNS setup needed.
